Day 31 - Re-create

Today we decided to re-create our favorite mani from another lady, so after a long time watching all of them I decided to do a funny manicure by Cristina from The Clockwise Nail Polish! Mine doesn't look as cool as hers, and Seche Vite did weird things... but I loved it! It is so original and funny!
Today is the last day of the challenge, and I want to thank all the awesome ladies that did it with me, I got a lot of inspiration from you and I am so happy to know some wonderful and talented bloggers. I can't wait to participate with you in another challenge.

Day 30 - Inspired by a tutorial

Today we had to use a tutorial and do a mani, so I tried for the first time the braided nails.. and they are super cool! I used two coats of China Glaze For Audrey, and then I used Barry M Yellow and Essence I Want That! I followed the tutorial from Rebecca Likes Nails. Are you going to try it out?

Day 29 - Inspired by the supernatural

I am not a big fan of supernatural things, but I got to use some images from my stamping plates that I woulnd't normally use. I used two coats of Hits Marimoon Dreamer, which is gorgeous! But I had a hard time getting color accurate pictures, my camera hates this polish! Then I stamped diffferent images with Barry M Silver Foil and BM-12, BM-13, BM-223 and BM-224. We are almost done with the challenge, just two days left!

Day 28 - Inspired by a flag

Today I decided to represent the country where I was born: Spain. Now I just get to spend my holidays there, but I love it! I didn't do any Olympics mani, so it is the first time I do a flag mani. I did two nails with the flag using Barry M Yellow and Ludurana Vermelho Tango. Then I used Konad Red and BM-208 to stamp the other two fingers.

Day 27 - Inspired by artwork

I decided to inspire today's many a movement: De Stijl. It was fun to do and I got to use striping tape for the first time. I used China Glaze Orange Neon (which you can see in the dark), Barry M Yellow and China Glaze White on White. My clean-up wasn't really good and my cuticles were dry, but you all know I am working to moisturize them!

Day 26 - Inspired by a pattern

I was a little bit lost for this one, but I finally decided to use the strips stamps on the stamping plate BM-20. I used China Glaze White on White and Konad Red. It reminds me of Christmas and those cute candy canes. It was realy easy and I would re-do it during December or January.

Day 25 - Inspired by fashion

A few weeks ago I saw a pair al leggings that I loved, but they were too colorful for me, and I knew I wasn't going to wear them. But I decided that I was going to wear them at least on my nails, so I recreated the pattern they had. I used Essence Iced Latte, Rimmel London Double Decker Red and Essence Stampe Me! Black and BM-204.

Day 24 - Inspired by a book

Today is a little bit different, we have to do a mani inspired by a book, but I remembered that my favorite TV show when I was little was Charmed, three sisters that had some powers and they used a book as their main resource: The book of the Shadows. So I inspired my mani on it! I chose a green base (Kiko 391) because the cover was green, then I added some green 3D glitter with Passe Nati Glan Rock because I thought it was cute. Finally, using a little brush I freehanded their symbol and I added the names of the three sisters: Prue, Piper and Phoebe. This last part was a little bit of a fail, but I had soooo much fun thinking about all the hours I spent waking up early to watch them.

Day 23 - Inspired by a movie

I chose Cinderella as my theme for today. I found the perfect stamp on the second set of Bundle Monster: BM-213. I used Kiko 336 as my base color, then I added the high heels stamp (BM-213) and the crown (BM-08) with Konad White. Becase Cinderella was blonde I decided to place some gold glitter that I got in Brazil a few months ago. It is the first time I used it, and it was pretty easy to apply, so I will try new combinations once the challenge is over.

Day 22 - Inspired by a song

I chose one of the most listened songs of the summer: Call Me Maybe from Carly Rae Jepsen. I have listened to this song in almost every party I have attended I always sing it with all my friends! I used two coats of China Glaze Champagne Bubbles, and then I did the details with a white and black nail art pen.

Day 21 - Inspired by a color

Purple is one of my favorite colors, so I decided to do another purple mani. I used two of my favorite things: stamping and a holo polish. I first applied one coat of Barry M Lilac Foil, then one coat of Hits Dionisio. Then I stamped it with Barry M Lilac Foil and BM-19. I was really happy with the final result and Dionisio is stunning with the sun!

Day 20 - Water Marbled

This is a techique that I love, but I need to use more opaque polishes next time, because the colors look very light on this one. You can find a lot of YouTube videos to learn how to achieve this look. I used one coat of China Glaze White on White and then I used Kiko 336, China Glaze Champagne Bubbles and China Glaze White on White again. My cuticles were super dry this day and clean up is very difficult when you do water marbled nails, but I tried my best :)

Sunday, August 19, 2012

Day 19 - Galaxies

My galaxy mani was a fail, I will have to find a new tecnhique or another colors. I used a lot of different polishes: China Glaze Liquid Leather, Hits Zeus, China Glaze Champagne Bubles, Impala Espelho, Kiko 336, China Glaze White on White and a white nail art pen. I first applied one coat of China Glaze Liquid Leather, another one of Hits Zeus, and then I sponged the rest of the colors and I added a few dots with the nail art pen.

Day 17 - Half moons

I've never done half moons before, but I really liked how they looked, I find it very elegant and classy, so I will probably use them for formal events in the future. I used two coats of Essence Iced Latte, my only nude nail polish which I really like, it's a pity that the bottle is so tiny. Then I freehanded the half moons with a nail art pen. I thought it was going to be a disaster, but they look great in my opinion. Do you like half moons? I hope you are having a great weekend, I will be enjoying the sun.

Day 17 - Glitter

I am not a big fan of glitter, mainly because I hate the removal. I chose something simple for today, two coat of Rimmel London Double Decker Red and Cherimoya Red Gala. It is the only nail polish I have from Cherimoya, it has some big and small glitter and is easy to apply. Just a curiosity, Rimmel London Double Decker Red was one of the first bottles I got in 2007, and I remember I bought it in UK during the summe. I finished the bottle in a few months, because I used the same color over and over for my finger nails and toes, I just loved it.

Day 16 - Tribal print

I was so excited about today: tribal print! It is the first time I do it, and I just love how it looks, and everybody thinks is super complicate and you get a lot of compliments, but you just need to do a few lines and dots. I used Impala Aleixo as my base color and then I added stripes and dots with two nail art pens, in black and white. You just need a little bit of patience and the result is great. I dont't have anything else to say, so just enjoy this manicure!

Remember to check out what other ladies had done:

Day 15 - Delicate print

I really don't know if what I did is delicate print, but I think it looks really cute, and I could use a Kiko nail polish that I was looking forward to wearing! I said a few posts ago that I didn't like the application of Kiko polishes, but I was using a different base coat. Today I used my normal one from Essie and I can clearly say that I really like them! I just needed one coat of Kiko 336 and the application was pretty easy. Then I stamped it with Konad White and BM-201. Today it was really cloudy, so I couldn't take pictures outside as I normally do, so I made my own lightbox, I hope I can improve my photos with a little more practice.

Day 14 - Flowers

Stamping flowers is probably my favorite technique, but I didn't have time to do a new one, so I am using one that I did two months ago. My clean up wasn't really good, and I the color I chose to stamp was not dark enough, but I think it looked cute. I used three coats of Hits PPG Lovely, I didn't like the application and the brush, but I really like pastel colors, so I can deal with that until a find another great pastel yellow. I stamped it with BM-16 and Konad Special Polish.

Day 13 - Animal Print

I've never done animal print nails, but I am so happy I was "forced " to try it because of the challenge. I used two coats of Priscilla Momento Penelope, a very bright neon pink. My friends loved it the day the saw it and I ended up painting many of their nails with this one, but they chose another stamps, mainly polka dots. I used BM-223 and Konad White polish to do the zebra print.

Day 12 - Stripes

I wasn't able to get a clean line in my cuticles, maybe because I really don't like the application of Kiko polishes or because it is really hot now. I hope it gets better and I can show you again beautiful and clean cuticles.
Today it was the turn of stripes. I applied two coats of Kiko 369 and then I used some tape and painted with Kiko 319. I really like the combination of these two colors. Then I used my black nail art pen which has a stripe brush and I did some lines. I was really happy with the final result, I will do some variations in the future for sure! And today I have pictures of both hands because I liked how both looked.

Day 11 - Polka dots

Today I wanted to try out one of the techniques from the Wah Book of Nail Art, that I got a few weeks ago. You just need to apply your base color, I used Kiko 389 and then you paint the polka dots with a nail art pen and you draw the explosion. I didn't like a lot the application from Kiko 389, but I was using a different base coat, so I will try with my regular one soon.
I still have sad cuticles :(

Day 10 - Gradient

So the difficult part is starting (well, wait for the last week) and today we had to a gradient. I have already done some, so at least I knew hot to start. I used Impala Záz and Impala Espelho. I wanted to stamp it, but I was so busy that I completely forgot about it, once the challenge is over I will try to do another one. I've seen a few stamped with cupcakes that looked really cool. Are you enjoying the 31 day challenge?
P.S. My cleaning wasn't the best one here, and my cuticles are suffering because I am using so much remover, I hope to get them well soon, I am using a lot of oil and Lush Lemony Flutter

Day 9 - Rainbow

Rainbow was the theme for today, and I wanted to try one of my glitters: Ki Cor Confete. It has a lot of different colors, but I think that mainly purple. I wore it over Risque Chow Chow, because I wanted that color to be the sky and all the glitter the rainbow. I didn't really like the result, so I added a few clouds using white polish and some flocking powder.  I am not really happy wit the final result, but we always get some fails.

Day 8 - Metallic

Metallic was the theme for today, so I started looking through my stash and I found some Sabrina Sato that said metallic, so I finally chose Sabrina Sato Confidence, a beautiful red that I will be wearing alone a lot during the year, probably during exam weeks when I don't have time to change my mani so much, so I just choose a beautiful color and wear it as long as possible, Seche Vite will be my best friend. I wanted to add something, so I took my crafting scissors and some tape and started and got that design. I used Barry M Gold Foil to do that details. It looked really good, but when I added Seche Vite the gold got covered with a coat of red. It ended up looking weird, but with this challenge I really don't have time to redo my manis.

Day 7 - Black and white

It is the first ime I do a black and white mani, and I will be doing a lot more for sure. There a lot of different combinations, but I decided to do domino nails! I used Spoiled Pearly White Teeth (because my China Glaze White on White bottle is almost gone, I need to find a new white. Any suggestions?) and I painted some stripes and dots with a black nail art pen. It was so easy andit looked so funny, even my dentist loved it, haha!
First week done, I can't believe we still have three more, I can honestly say that I am having a lot of fun and that I got to meet some really nice ladies.
P.S. Have you seen all the cool nail art in the Olympics?
